The Barn House Bed & Breakfast in North Norfolk
Where To Go And What To Do
We are ideally located to explore the many treasures North Norfolk has to boast of which there are so many;
Take a trip from Morston to see the seals with sea dog Jim Temple
Visit the very quaint market town of Holt where you will find a fine selection of boutiques, art galleries and delis and take a break for coffee in one of the many café’s or drive on a little further to Burnham Market where you will find the same charm and close to Burnham Thorpe, the birthplace of Horatio Nelson.
Take a picnic and a stroll around the beautiful stately homes of Felbrigg Hall or Blickling Hall which are steeped in history.
The closest beach is West Runton, but the beach really to be visited when in Norfolk is Holkam. Here you will find one of the most unspoilt and beautiful stretches of sand in the country and is worth a visit rain or shine – then fish and chips at Wells-next-the-Sea and crabbing on the quay.
Cromer is worth a visit. As the result of a regeneration programme, Cromer boasts some charming small art galleries along with it’s rejuvenated promenade and pier.
Where to eat
Pubs
The Walpole Arms at Itteringham and The Saracens Head at Wolterton both serve excellent food and beer – not your ordinary pub fayre.
Restaurants
Byfords in Holt offers all day posh nosh at reasonable prices and Morston Hall (owned by chef Galton Blackiston) is very posh and not so reasonable but worth every penny. Bolton’s Bistro (predominantly fish) is said to be very good and offers an extensive menu. We can highly recommend The Moorings in Blakeney which does teas and light lunches by day and fantastic meals by night – if you like a down to earth atmosphere. Also No.10 in Sheringham does fab food at reasonable prices.
There are so many good eateries around providing fresh locally sourced food, this is to list just a few.
